I have a question about updating windows 2008r2 core install.

I have a WSUS server that I use to manage Microsoft patches. I don’t download the patches to the WSUS server but redirect the core install to get the patches from Microsoft directly.

I would like to use this WSUS server with the core installs. I don’t want the core installs to be patched automatically I would like to patch them manually but use the sconfig choice 6 options to list the patches that have been OK-ed for install on the WSUS.

Then I can install the ones I would like. So far I have had no luck. I check the WSUS server and my core install has reported, the log file on the core install succsuffly connects to the WSUS server and then reports that no patches are needed. . I have OK-ed several patches that I know need to be installed. I have a similar core install in my test environment but does not use a WSUS server this test server checks Microsoft for updates. The sconfig choice 6 works without the WSUS server.

Is this possible? Do I need to have patches download to the WSUS server after the have been OK-ed?

Thanks

Thank you, I have set the GPO up and the systems have the registry setting. I will check out the script.
