Hi Guys,

Been trying to upload patches via FTP with not luck. I am dialing in via modem and it's not feasable to patch in that way so I loaded patches onto our FTP for the BCM to pull from there.

I keep getting the following error

Error: Invalid parameters passed to method.

The BCM can reach the FTP as it backs up onto it on a daily basis.

Has anyone any thoughts on this ? ?

Thanks....

Chris,

This is Prad from Nortel BCM/Norstar tech support and I am the engineer working on your case# 090205-70278 regarding your question on applying patches remotely.

A patch can be applied from a remote connection through dialup but we do not recommend it due to size of patch. A stuck patch may cause a working system to go down and be service affecting.

The best and recommended option would be to schedule a maintenance window with the customer and connect your PC/Laptop to the OAM port of the BCM and apply the patches.

NOTE: Some cumulative patches will need the system to reboot hence being onsite is highly recommended.

I hope your question is clarified. If you need further clarification then please contact me via e-mail or phone.

Thank you for choosing Nortel

Yeah usually I would go via VPN or something like that but its just the option is there and I think it would be quite handy if I could get it to work, especially on small systems when there is no technically savy people onsite
