This might be kind of vague, but I wanted to develop a standardized procedure (in writing as well) to setup/ install patches on my RedHat7.3 server.
I want to keep track and update all avialable security patches, bug patches, and developprocedures for patching ona motnhly basis, devlop procedures for urgent security monitoring patching.
I told you this was kinda vague. well this is what I gto from my boss actually. He says develop standardized procedures for the same. Now, I dont doit on a regularity, but I do apply patches now and then. For example there was a security threat on ssh recently. So, I downloaded the latest (which had fixes for the hole, supposedly) and did a 'rpm -Uvh'. Now I am a novice administartor, can do this and that, ubt what exactly should I be doing. Where exactly should Ibe looking for this (books/info/links).
Whats your experince (or procedures) on updating patches, on a need-based and on a timely basis.
Please advise.
