After using the Developer software to create an application is it possible to issue patches (as forms) that will not impact existing data?
My application has import in the menu but I can not find a method to save a new form individually - only as part of the main database.
Thanks for any pojnters

People often issue new, complete front ends, because front ends are often made into mde's, making patches impossible. It is possible to build a form through code, which means that it is possible with VBScript, but it would be tedious. Finally, you could send your users a stripped down database with just the new form(s) and the code to install them.

see transferdatabase. while tedious to set up (properly) it is an easy and effective way to update one db ("production") from another ("development").

you can also do this manually (for small changes involving a couple of objects). Click on any object in the database window. Right click. The submenu includes "Export". Select this and follow the prompts.

of course either technique only works from and to .MDB for updating.

It is also possible to use ye newe to convert forms & reports to text files and then use the import from text in the dest db. Haven't tried this yet and it is at least unappealing to me.
