I recently was tasked with adding a few new ISDN BRI line to a new location in our computer room. This new location didn't have any wiring to it.

Rather than have the vendor pull new cabling from the Demarc to the computer room's new location, we reused a couple old exsiting circuit wiring that were disconnected to a nearby patch panel located on the other side of the room. From there I ran a 25 pair amphenol cable from the old patch panel to a new patch panel at the new location.

I have a few questions I was hoping someon could help out with.

The two patch panels I'm trying to connect to one another are Panduit DP5e

1. I believe ISDN uses pin 4 and 5 correct?
2. To connect two patch panel ports (extending wiring from one patch panel port 19 to another patch panel port 19) I would use the first punch down pair on the block from left to right? This would be pin 4 and 5 of a RJ45 connector?
3. For example internal house wiring to original patch panel - original patch panel port 19 not in use - Have an amphenol cable pair such as blue/blue white(because really I have 5 BRIs I'm doing this for or else I would have just used a CAT5 cable) connect to pin 4 and 5 of a RJ45 - on the new patch panel connect the RJ45 end (blue/blue white) to port 19s first punch down pair from left to right of the new patch panel - Does this sound right?

Much thanks!

Are you in the USA? If so is the wire you are extending before or after the Network Termination 1 device (e.g. NT1)?

If this is before the NT1 then it requires a single pair and uses the center pins (pins 3 & 4 of a 6-position/ x-pin miniature modular jack "RJ-11" or Pins 4 & 5 of a 8-position/8-pin miniature modular jack "RJ-45".

If you are patching *after* the NT1, you'll need a minimum of 2 pairs, possibly 3 if "PS1" power is required. If so, I can post more info.

Not sure about the rest of your question, at least in part it depends on the wiring conventions used. But it should be easy enough to tone it out.

Best of luck.

Hi ISDNman. Thanks for helping me.

I'm in the US.
I'm trying to extended before the NT1.
