Patch Management

Hello,
I am trying to come up with a good way to track the patches we apply to our numerous servers (50+). I'm looking for ideas to do so either using a database, spreadsheet, or a free utility. I do not need something to roll them out, scan the servers or to do anything really but give me a way to keep track of what is applied where and when. Any suggestions are appreciated!!!

will store this information to a central database, together with a lot of other information which may or may not be useful to you depending on your requirements.
