I am coming from the HP-UX world to AIX and am wondering if AIX has any equivalent patch management tool like HP-UX's depot? What is the common way to centralize your patches so any server can get to the repository?
I dump my maintenance level patches (bundled fixes) into an automounted nfs directory and run updates as needed by hand through smit. i don't automate my patches since i need to keep control over when the updates happen.
perhaps someone else has a more auto update method and can comment.... if that's what you need.
This link might prove interesting. It covers the command 'compare_report' which can identify required patchsets. I believe you need to register on the IBM site to download the list of latest patchsets etc. but as it's free and an invaluable resource I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
