I am starting to use InDesign and I happen to be bringing in charts/tables from excel into Indesign to create financial brochures. If I copy paste, the fonts come out wrong, putting them in Illustrator first helps a bit but doesn't solve the problem and exporting them as a pdf from excel is not an option as there is lots of info/spreadsheets, etc.
If anyone can help I would very much appreciate.

You should not copy and paste. Only 'place' table data form the XLS or text file.

The only realiable way to place charts is to print to PDF from Excel and then place in InDesign. An intermediate edit in Illustrator may help clean up the RGB color from the Excel output.
