Hi Guys,

I want to copy some text from a web page which has a single strikethrough and paste it into a word document. However, word is deleting all the text with the strikethrough (presumably this is normal?).

I have just spent 2 hrs looking through the options to prevent this happening. Any suggestions appreciated before I go and hunt down Mr. Gates.

Thanks in Advance

Hi jimlee,

AFAIK this is not normal. What exactly do you mean when you say Word is deleting it? Does the paste work and then the text get deleted, or what?

Can you post the URL so I can take a look at the text on the web page?

Enjoy,
Tony

Hi Tony,

The paste does not work at all, nothing even appears in the word doc although it is definately on the clipboard as I can paste it into excel (retains strikethrough).

On my travels through the various options I did manage to get it working for about a minute but when I went back to check what I did it stopped working again ??

Unfortunately I cannot post the url as it is my employers confidential information.

I will make a web page of my own with some strikethrough text to see whether it happens because of the strikethrough or some other factor...

Ok, I've just created a web page with some stikethrough text and copied it to word and it worked fine??

This would suggest that it's not the strikethrough text's fault ?

However with my company's web page it is only the strikethrough text which doesn't appear . I'm confused !!

Are there some HTML tags that might cause this? I think Word converts HTML to RTF to retain formatting and it might be that the tags used are not recognized?

Found it, they're using the <del> tag, unfortunately it's in every page so it'll take me a while to jimmy it !!

Thanks for all your help guys
