I've heard it said that you can copy and paste into mysql on Window's command prompt.

The normal way - Ctl-V - doesn't work for me. But once, when I had some documents resting on the keyboard, something actually did go from the Clipboard onto the command prompt screen.

I presume it is possible. Be grateful if an Expert would reveal the magic shortcut, please.

Right-clicking with the mouse will paste into the command line.

I rarely use the MySQL command-line program though. A GUI program like MySQL Control Centre is so much easier to use.

Thanks again, Tony. I sometimes use phpmyadmin - particularly when I've wanted to insert several paragraphs into a text field. Thanks to you, I'll be able to right-click them into place in the future.

I'll look out for MysSQL Control Centre. Much obliged.

Your tip about right-clicking to paste into the command prompt saved me hours at the weekend. Were your ears aglow? Heavy praise was going your way.

And your guidance showed me it works the other way too - highlight and right click.

It's so handy for checking on code that doesn't want to work in php. Cheers and thanks
paul
