Hi,

How can I select an area on layer #1, cut it, and then paste it to layer #2 and have it be exactly lined up it the position it was on layer #1?

I am experiencing that it places the clipboard data in a different place, and it's extremely annoying because i just want an easy way to extract elements of an image and put them on layers without having to re-position everything.

If anyone can help with this, I would be very thankful.

Hi,

select the area you want in a specific layer, copy or cut it, don't deselect.

create a new layer

go to edit menu "paste inside"

that should do the trick

I use Layer--New--Layer via Copy (command-J) on Mac.
This places an exact dupicate directly on top of the selected layer.
