Wow! I did it! Passed on my first attempt. and Yes it was tough! I spent the last few weeks studying. I found that If I set the test date, I then get down and study. This is a test I needed to study for. Not that I did not know about networking, I've been working with them since novell 3.11, its just that over the years, operating system and terms have migrated. I have had the pleasure of working on Unix(pre linux and xwindows) novell, and Microsoft, as well as mainframe, and yes by studying I did learn a few new things, I don't agree with everything in the books but hey they write the test not me.

I have found this group to be a big support and I got a lot of good study information from this group. Thanks for the support. And for those who wonder if it is worth it. Yes just for your own satisfaction. I know a lot of Tech people who know a lot about Networks who could not pass the Network+ or A+ exams with out studying. Study Study Study and know that terms yes, learn the terms / acronyms, Know what they are. I found that on the test (today) they gave the acronyms then behind it they gave the full term. this was a nice supprise. becase after awhile DHCP and DNS start looking the same expecialy when dyslexia kicks in with nerves and anziety of test taking.

Thanks for listening and the support. Go for it folks

James A. Garry A+, Network+ and damm proud of it!

Good work James. It is standard procedure on CompTIA exams to spell the acronym out after each use (i.e. DNS (Domain Naming Service). I have done development on several exams and this is very common. They don't want the exam to be any harder than necessary and they don't want it to be a test on acronyms. Psychometricians are very big on keeping the playing field level and pretty anal about making questions and answers "legaly defensible". That is legal speak for being able to defend the answers to the exam when someone wants to sue because they failed. This is accomplished by having specific references for each question and answer.

Keep up the great work and never stop learning.

Thanks, and I'm glad you gave the definition for Psycometricians. I guss that stuck out, the acronym, and the meaning, becase non of the practice test give information like that.

Also in my title the word is First not firt. or is it just another acronym?

and I might say, gister, its nice to see you respond to so many people. thanks for your support in education.
