I just plugged my Zip 100 parallel into my new XP machine. After changeing some settings the drive is recognized in MY Computer, but when I insert discs previously passworded, the unprotect option does not appear in the context menu.
Does anyone have an idea about this?

Found the same problem myself with a new 250Mb Zip drive in a new Dell XP machine. Went immediately to Iomega ( and downloaded the latest version of Ioware. Problem was that the XP drivers for this product (and many others) is very limited, and has no bells and whistles. You want your old bells and whistles back, you have to get the full version from the hardware vendor.

Adding Ioware restored my ability to access passworded Zip disks.
