I have a number of end of day reports which are run automatically. Currently the interface passes a number of parameters to the report at run-time. One of these parameters is a static user name and password for the oracle database. I am connecting directly to Oracle using the native connection within Crystal Reports 8.5

Is there any way I can specify and save within the report the user name and password rather than passing it as a parameter at run-time?

Crystal reports save the User ID portion but not the Password within the report. There is no way to save the Password within the report.

My Visual CUT software saved User ID and Passwords (for any number of secure data sources in a single report) in strongly encrypted format within a small database to allow scheduling and unattended processing of Crystal reports. Sounds like you created your own report scheduling application and you may want to add a similar feature.

hth,
- Ido CUT, Visual CUT, and DataLink Viewer:
view, e-mail, export, burst, distribute, and schedule Crystal Reports.

Ido,

Thanks for the response. I had assumed this was the case, but just needed to know there wasn't some plainly obvious thing I could do.
