Password Recovery on 2514 1

Hi All.
I have a cisco 2514 router that I am trying to do standard password recovery. My break sequence (win2k...ctrl+break) takes me to the prompt >. I also receive the message Abort at (0x.....) (PC)just prior to the prompt. Here, I attempt to enter the command confreg 0x2142 (for password recovery).
However, it does not seem to take. After hitting the enter key, I get the following message: Exception: Illegal Instruction at 0x0 (PC). Can anyone tell me if this indicates that I need to make further changes to the config? I know there's an option to change the breakpoint from 0x0 but I dont know if I should take it and where to.

the confreg cmd doesn't work with the 2500 series. Use o/r as listed in
