I have a customer I need to help clear a password on a Superstack 1100 Switch. We received it password protected and failed to clear it before re-selling. Please help.

Thanks
Mike

Connect a 9-pin Null-modem cable to the console port
Power on the 1100, when prompted for a Login and Password,
try the following....

Login: 3comcso
Password: RIP000

Do you want to re-initialize this device (y/n) [n]: y

Use a lowercase "y" or it won't work.

The switch may reboot at this point. You may see just a
blank screen. Hit Enter key 2 or 3 times to get the Login
prompt. Try the following factory default...

Login: admin
Password: blank password

You should receive the menu where you can reset the password

--------------
If this does not work, download the Upgrade utility from 3Com and the latest version of the opcode. Run the Setup
program so your PC will know what Serial port to use and
which directory you have installed the files into.

Start the 3Com Serial Port utility and when you see the
prompt to power off the 1100, do so, then press Enter on
the PC, then power on the 1100. The new software will
download and let you know when it is finished. You should
power cycle the 1100 at this point. After this, the Login
of "admin" and a blank password should work.

If you push the reset button then wait 3 seconds and push again, you get the software upgrade prompt. From there you can use the 3comcso/RIP000 login and password, followed by the admin/blank user/pass sequence. You can then do
an initialise option and get back to the default Login and password of "security" "security"

I believe the (3comcso RIP000) username and password combination will only work with 3Com 1100 and 3300 switches.
