can anyone offer some suggestions about off the shelf applications for managing passwords on an nt / 2000 server (want to use something other than the MS user groups)? we need to add password protection to some of our web sites. we would like people to be able to set thier own passwords, and the aplication should provide a cookie that both remembers the user for future visits and will time-out the user if they have been idle for too long. any suggestions are appreciated.

Password Protection Software / Other Ideas?

I did a https:// , asp, and MS sql combo. It's not that hard and u don't really need MS sql since u're only using that to store the passwords. I'm sure access could be a supplement (assuming ur users won't be accessing the site, thus accessing the db @ the same time).
