Asking JS heads if JS SHOULD be used to password protect pages could open a can of worms. Hoping to avoid that.
I searched hundreds of pages, pasted tons of samples, saw the cracks and still did not get a clear head on this. Let me refine the question --- Where can simple and reasonably secure script methods information be found ? I am not hiding plans for Scotty's warp engine. Just need some unproven tech fixes and suggestion box releases available on password locked pages.
Would like this simple so that the script can be easily identified, replicated and removed when needed. tia - zeke

you want to protect your pages CLIENT side ??????? store the password etc on the CLIENT machine ????????? !!!!!!!!!!!!!
it's much much much much easier and safer to turn the option on/off from the web server !!!

Yes, if it's a very simple page (or pages) that you want to protect... and all users have the same level of access, then just password protect the directory... Then the browser will pop up a little password and username box every time someone tries to access that directory.

Much much easier than writing your own login scripts and such.

good luck! :)
