I have an old internal hdd that I am currently accessing through an enclosure and so to all intents and purposes, it's an external hdd.

Anyway, I would like to be able to password protect the drive itself. Is this possible?

I know how to password protect my windows desktop and so obviously whilst the drive is attached, then it's not possible to access the drive although, of course, it's still possible to just unplug the external hdd and plug it into another system and access it that way.

There's 3rd party software that will do it. Just Google "external hard drive" "password protect".
