Ok..sorry to be posting what is probably an elementary question...I'm a hardware/os geek.

The BOSS wants to add a page to our website with info for his employees only. (small company...6 disc jockeys..the page would have a work schedule on it)

I figured just an unlinked page would probably be good enough...it's not the type of info that someone would be going after...but he wants a password to access that page only.

So..how can I do that? Have been publishing the web with Frontpage 2000 to an Apache web server running on Unix that has Frontpage extensions installed.

BTW...he's cheap. Already found a few progs on the web for around 25 bucks or so...hate to spend the money if I already have everything I need to do it.

Thanks in advance.

You need to create a subweb in the exiting Web site. The easiest way is to create a folder, then in folder view, right click on it and choose Convert to Subweb. Put your file in that Subweb. You can then put your password on the Subweb, using FP's security feature.

I've followed all these directions, made a subweb, changed the permissions to unique to the subweb, turned anonymous user browsing off on the sub web, but the "please enter your password box pops up on almost every page, eve theroot web. I can get access to the root web by clicking cancel, but how do I get the password prompt to show up only when I click on the link to the protected subweb?
I am not a super tech person, just the most willing in my group, so be gentle please :).

Look for enable or disable unique permissions in your web in FrontPage's help. You probably need to make an adjustment in the subweb permissions (I'll bet an option got missed).
