Password Protect phones

Hello,

I was told that I could lock phones so they would require a password in order to use the phone. I am unclear on the steps in order to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can put restiction filters on phones, then assign COS passwords to bypass the restrictions. Is this what you mean? Just remember the COS password works at any phone with restrictions.

I was able to set the restiction on the phone. How would I go about to unrestict the phone if I was to use it?

Depending on what Norstar system type and software version, you get into it differently.
On newer software, for example, go into CONFIG, hit next until you see PASSWORDS. Hit show, at COS pswds, hit show again. Enter a 2 digit sequence number that you want to assign the password to. Between 00 and 99. Hit show again.
Hit change and assign a 6 digit password. Hit next and assign the filter that you want to use with this password.

That should do it.

On older systems, it is under ADMIN, then CAPABILITIES, then next until you see COS PASSWORDS.
