Hello everyone,

I have a MS Access Project linked with the SQL Server Database as the back-end.

I would like to make the Access Project file PASSWORD PROTECTED. I tried doing it by going to Tools->Security->Set Login Password BUT it doesn't allow me to do so and it prompts this: "Microsoft Office Access cannot change the password for the logon account ****Domain****\**myusername** because the current connection is using Microsfot Windows NT integrated security."

The SQL Database back-end is linked using the Windows NT login for the users. Is there anyway I can PASSWORD PROTECT this .adp file?

Please advice.

Thanks!
Vicky

What are you trying to protect? The ADP file from changes or The data in the database?

If the latter, it sounds like you are already using integrated security so you have to be logged into Winows. Just lock your workstation before you leave it.

Otherwise, I don't think you can protect the ADP itself. At least I never had cause to think about doing it.... You could probably make a user enter a password on a modal form before you could navigate anywhere else.

Those are just my initial thoughts, understand your goal may help more.

As lameid says it sounds like you've already got security of the data provided.

If you just don't want people to change the adp then why not distribute it as a .ade?
