I maintain a PBX CS1k Release 6.0 and with all the new security you need a rather long and secure password. This was working fine until today I tried to login and the password was no longer accepted.

Did you ever hear of this happening to another release 6 system. I have maintained PBX's since rel 22.xx and I never had a password dissappear on me before.

The password doesn't have to be overly long. Ours is 7 digits.

There is a back door for getting into the system if you lockout the passwords. See the NTP Security Management
Fundamentals 43001-604

I would also build a couple additional users in the UCM. Just in case someone locks the password out.

Make sure that the password hasn't expired (90 days or so); we had that happen on our 6.0 installation and shouldn't log in.

I've experienced case problems on 4.5, where one day the system accepts a lowercase password, another day it has to uppercase. Strange but true!

If it has expired - sounds like it could have as it was about 3 months ago since this installation - is the only way in on NTP 43001-604

If it's expired it should tell you when logging into the UCM and you should be able to change it. Not 100% sure though. The NTP worked for us when we were locked out and it was very non intrusive.

There is an option in the policies settings page of the UCM interface that allows you to enable/disable the ability to prompt for new password when the current password has expired.

If enabled, the system will allow you to log on and immediately change your password if it has expired.
