Password On Access Table

Hi all,
I was wondering, is it possible to put a password on a single table. My reasoning is that i have a 'Master Staff Table' that is the backbone of all the reports i produce but sneakily other people are going into it and amending records which causes problems for me. I cant just move the table as too much is linked out from it.

If i password the whole DB will this affect any other files/DBs linked in and out ? ? ?

Security is not my strongpoint hence the reason i am stuck on what is probably a very simple problem.

Tyhe best way to do this is to use Access security to restrict the user's rights to work with the table.

There are several good FAQs etc which explain how to implement User and Group security in an Access database. If you do this, then you can create two accounts, e.g. User and Administrator.

Set the User account permissions to prevent any changes to your Master Staff Table. I'm assuming the users may run queries or reports which look up information from the table, so they will need to read it.

They needn't have read rights to the master table--this is what Owner Access queries are for. In this scenario the table can be locked so it's never opened at all or messed with in any way by non-approved users. The query can then read this table based on the 'owners access' rights, but you can still set this query itself to be read only, though if you needed you could allow updates. This way the query could be a form's source and you could then enforce form-level events (as close as you'll get to triggers in Access) without worrying about users subverting the form by opening the table on it's own.
