Hi,

I have a SUN machine with Solaris OS 5.6. It doesn't have any console. And we mostly login through telnet. root can't do remote login. Being an administrator I want to access to that box with my id and by doing su I can get root access and can do all kind of administrative tasks.

I want to set my user id password never expire. How can I set that. And it shopuldn't get lock. If anything goes wrong with that readonly id, I can't do any administrative job through root.

Please suggest for the best solution during this situation. I can't access that box physically, as it is far away.

Thanking you..

Sam

man passwd

(hint: if I remember it is -x)

You remember correctly -it's -x -1 to turn off aging.
