Hi Everyone .... I have a 3 part question regarding password length support in AIX
1) Does anyone know what version of AIX started supporting password lengths of 8 (i.e. minlen=8)?
2) The reason I'm asking is because I'd like to set minlen=8 on 2 of my older AIX systems (versions 4.3 and 5.1). Would there be an adverse impact to existing IDs if I set minlen=8 on these systems? Would users be required to enter 8 character passwords (even though the system may only validate the first 5 characters) or would users only be required to enter 5 character passwords (despite minlen being set to 8)?
3) When do /etc/security/user changes (such as changing minlen=8) actually get applied to existing users? Is this immediate or only when existing users change their password?
