Apparently password aging has been set for Root. Is there a way to reset the password?

Thanks in advance.

log into the console as root and you should be prompted to change the password.

when the pwd is expired i dont believe
he can login to console as root, the
pwd is exired !
i fear you have to mmmmm
boot from cd (single)
start a shell
mount root partition on /a
edit /a/etc/shadow
change all values AFTER the 3.field
(field separator is ':') to nothing
g.e: root:ksadgfsdgf:12345:??:??:??:??:??:
g.e: root:ksadgfsdgf:12345::::::

correct /a/etc/default/login, should be
MAXWEEKS=
MINWEEKS=

sure you can set this values for other users
loock at man passwd (option -x)

I would resort to that if that is the case, but I have had root passwords expire before and was able to change them by trying to log on to the console. I could not however, su to root once the password was expired from a remote connection.
