Strange. Have not ever come across a db where custom/custom doesn't work.
Try the following:
Open the Database manager. Start -> Run -> DM.exe
Login with the highest privilege login that you have.
Select Usernames\Passwords
You should have a drop down list of all the usernames in the database of which you should have installer and custom.
If they have not already been set it will allow you to set the password to whatever you want.
