I'm totally new to AIX, but you have to begin sometimes. I've a question.

I want user passwords to expire after 13 weeks. After 13 weeks, they'll have to change passwords. I also want a warning to appear a week before the change. It should say that you have to change within a week to keep using your account. How do I do this?
Is there a default user profile somewhere, where I can enter such information? I want this information to be enabled on all users created.

Hi

go to smitty users.select change/show characterists of a user option.
there you will find all the info of a particular.scroll down to see the different options.this is where one can change the password expiry time.

good luck

edit defaults in /etc/security/users, and never expire root password, note that non-aix apps dont favour password expiration sometimes
