Does anyone know if the enable secret password is encrypted to a specific machine? In other words, if I want to copy a standard config to several different routers, will copying over the whole config, including the password lines make the router inaccessible?

No---even the encrypted password will be sent to other routers as the same password unencrypted...for example...show run will reveal

username bla priv 15 secret 1*12mG1!weRhU34!h*8%k!!

when you have typed

username bla priv 15 secret blabla

yet transferring the config with the encrypted password will still result in the password being "blabla"

In other words, you are safe---it will not lock you out and you will not need to do a password recovery.

But don't take my word for it---I have done this many times before, but you should ALWAYS test a theory in a lab before deploying, especially to multiple machines!

HTH!
