I have a user that had an old fmp 3 file on a floppy and needed to view it. They are running fmp 7 on their desktop (winxp), and the app wouldn't open the file without upgrading it to fmp 7. After conversion, when she tries to open it, it prompts for a username/password, eventhough she knows she didn't password protect the original file. I tried to use a password crack (trial version) for fmp from passware, but it gave an error that there was no account associated with the file. This makes me tend to believe the user that the original file wasn't password protected. Could the file be corrupted? Has anyone else had this and reached a solution? The original fmp 3 file was created on a mac, could it be a conversion issue???

Just try 'Admin' as password.

Do you open the file with full access ?

Using your crack program is useless and can damage a file even if there is nothing wrong with it.

Try to make an in between step, converting the file to FM 5/6 and than to FM7....
