A question of concern. I run cold fusion 4.5 sp 2 on a windows 2000 server. I use Mysql for a couple of databases. When I set up the Mysql I put in a user name and password. Then as I created two databases when it assigned those databases the password and username as root and "" as the password. Two years later the databases stop working in the middle of the night. In stead of using the default passwords and user name it now requires the orginal user name and password for the server. Is it possible for the data bases to forget their default user name and password or do you think some one broke in and inadvertantly changed them to the Mysql server username and password??

I'm not sure how that happeend but you can reinstall MySQL while keeping all your data:

Open the directory where MySQL data is stored. (for example, C:\mysql\data) There you should see some subdirs, one for each database.

Back up all these subdirs, except for the one called "mysql" (this contains the grant tables).

You can now uninstall and reinstall MySQL server, and then copy the databases back into the data folder.

I REALLY hope that helps.
