Option 11C was changing the password in LD 17 and prompt for LNAME_OPTION changed to NO, the switch then went to the end of LD like it was finished. Gave a msg that the password change and something about a default, and now no one can log in. Any hints or helpful info is greatly appreciated.

You tried the old password again just in case? Also, password is case sensitive, make sure you didn't or don't have capslock on.

LNAME_OPTION
(NO) YES

If the option is changed from YES to NO, random
passwords are assigned by the system to ensure no
password duplication. The default password for
PWD2 is output to the terminal when this option is
disabled. The following message is output:
WARNING: PASSWORDS WILL BE CHANGED TO
DEFAULT VALUES.
OK? (Y/N)
If Y is entered, the following appears:
DEFAULT PASSWORDS SAVED
PWD2 = <pwd2 password>
Note that entering YES forces the user to define
passwords. If NO is entered, Log In name may still be
entered, but is not required.
To find the other default passwords assigned by the
system, Load Overlay 22 and print PWD.
With Multi-user Log In enabled, it is possible for more
than one user to be logged in with the same name/
password combination. However, no two Log In
names can have the same password associated with
them.

Tried the regular default. In the past we have been using the Asia-Pac software and the last few sites have gotten the CALA package. THe Asia-Pac default was LOGI then 0000, with the CALA LOGI admin1 then pwd 0000. The default says NO for the login name, but it was still wanting the admin1, my tech went to change that after he had already changed the password 1st and 2nd levels then he said he got password something or the other and then it went off his screen, he was not using a capture text and did not think twice about it, did a LD 43 then logged out and tried to log back in with what he thought would do the trick. I guess will have to have NORTEL dial in and fix it for him. Thanks all.

This happened to me (Lucky for me, on my test system!). After you have changed the Login name option "LNAME_OPTION" to "NO", all of your existing user names will be removed & all of your passcodes will as stated in one of your other replies, be changed to random settings.
However, You will get a new PWD2 passcode appear on the screen & you will have to use that in order to access & change your other passcodes, back to their original values again.
I think that the LNAME_OPTION prompt has now been removed for the latest beta V04.50 software. This is because Login name is now a set feature & it can't been removed.
Also the passcode can now be a mixture of Lower / upper case letters, which should cause a few problems after, e.g. 3 attempts to login with the Caps Lock in the wrong position!.
Anyway the passcode for your system, can be recovered via specialist engineers who know the process for it.
Best of luck!

All the best
