Does anyone know how much Mitel will charge to reset a password on a 200Light? If I get the business, there is no modem attached and all of the pw configs I could think of would not work.

Any other suggestions on how to proceed would be appreciated. I currently have absolutely no access into the system.

Customer bought a hotel and the 200L came with it and no documentation of course.

They will only do it with remote access.

You will have to get the ownership of the system transfered first.

Great, If I can't get into programming via Maint1, Maint2 or installer and there's no modem then I have to set up a modem on an POTS line which they don't have (all on T1).

So I need to tell the customer that until the POTS lines are installed for his new alarm system, there's nothing I can do.

There are 4 other options that are even less favorable

Remove the system and take it to somewhere where communication is possible. And really, no fax lines? , no alarm lines? No IBL's of any sort? Hard to fathom.

Pay Mitel to fly someone in at 10 times the cost of a remote service call.

Default the system and reprogram from scratch with no records or options enabled

Leave things as they are.

As stated by others Mitel will not reset the password without a direct modem access. As kwbMitel states you need to get that modem access somehow to move forward. Not sure the cost, thought it was something link $800-$1000.

The single biggest problem with communications is the illusion that it has taken place.

they charge 3 tech credits last time I used the password reset route

NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED!

Thanks everyone,

kwb, I thought the same about no copper lines when I went in the place.

nytalkin, 3 tech credits? Didn't they just raise the price on tech credits for support on manufactured discontinue equipment?

Looking more like a good time to convince to upgrade to 200ICP

With an upgrade, you'll still need access sorry to say.

Try something for me.

Login as Maint2 Password 1000

If you can do this, we have other options.

Will do. I will let you if it works.

What about telnet? On the software CD there should be a program called telnet-tls. I stopped using a modem in favour of this program as it is TCP based.

To test this, pop the program on any PC and then launch it. You'll be in a nice boring telnet environment. type o <your mitels IP> <port> EG o 192.168.0.1 2000

If you get the prompt that asks you for what terminal you want to use then your there.

The next step would be to open a hole in your firewall and allow the outside to route in to the mitel.

Them Mitel could resolve your issue (I think??)

Jim It's a Light not an ICP. Telnet a no go.

I was having thoughts along the same lines though. You could setup a internet connection thru your PC and they can change it that way.

Yes, TCP to serial would work. Or one of those little Ipockets too.

No I wasn't think I-Pocket.

Mitel could take control of a laptop remotely using YA collaboration. Then they could use the serial connection on the laptop to make the change.

Hey good idea kwb.

If I have maint2 access what would be the idea you had for that scenario?
