Hi,
Could an administrator user other than root change
a new user password (never connected) ? How ?
Thanks in advance for your help
Consty

It should not. Unless the administrator account was setup as generic root account.

If the administrator account can change passwords other than his own, his user id is more likely a 0.

What do you mean by another administrator user? Is the uid of this other user 0? If so, then they can probably change other users passwords, otherwise, only root can change them.

There are "roles" diefined in AiX. There is a role which enables an user to manage other (non-root) users. When creating a new user in SMIT, check "ROLES" field.

I checked roles, it works if the password is changed for
the second time. For the first connexion, only root can put the password, THAT IS THE PROBLEM.

Well, right. Maybe there are some other circumstances to set when you want to use roles. I myself do not use them. Sorry.

Maybe you should use some kind of script driven by sudo.
