What comand is used to reset or change a password in the system?

You would need to change the password in menu 9-1 for one of the system manager mailboxes. You can find that info in menu 1-2 for system and asst system manager mailboxes. The password to each of the 2 control the access to the terminal

hmmmm our interface uses commands like :
m u ....modify user
l u ....list user
I am not familiar with menus......

Those are not a Octel 250 prompts. They are Ocetl (VMX) 100,200 type prompts. One of the 100-200 guys will be able to help you.

ok that may be one of the issues.....I am a NEWBIE.........thanks for putting me in the correct machine....

The command to reset the password on a mailbox for the 200 - 300 series is:
.M User S
the system will respond by asking which mailbox number and then request a confirmation.
or:
.M U S xxxx (where xxxx = mailbox no.)
The password is then reset to the setting in system parameter 105. to check this:
.L SYS 105

Both of these commands are using the Update command (type UP at the @ prompt)
