Guys
my department wants to deploy password aging for windows 2000
what is the best way in Active Directory to create a rule for passwords to expire after 30 days?

The simplest way of doing this would be via the "domain Security policy" located on the Domain controller.

You can find the Domain Security policy within the "Admin Tools" located under the "Control Panel".

Within the domain security policy there is a tree structure on the left hand side. Open the "Secure Settings", the "Account Policies" and then click on the "Password Policy" to reveal the properties of this.

This option will give you access to what you need. You will have the ability to set a minimum and maximum age. Set the Maximum to 30 days. It might be an idea to set the minimum for 20 - 25 days also.

This would be a pretty good area to become familiar with as many security features can be implemented there.

Once you make the changes, it will take a little while for the policy to be implemented across the domain so be a little patient.

Goodluck
