I am tring to set password aging to satisfy the auditors...
I am looking to set the default for all users newly created.

I was thinking it can be done updating the /etc/default/security file, but have not been able to find a parameter documented that will accomplish this.

Can anyone let me know where I can set defaults for any new user created?

Hmm, this can be sone via SAM, you can set up User Templates (I think, one per group) and can set various options that will be common, passwd ageing is one.

Don't think you can do it from the command line, less you write a quick script.

You can set password ageing on a user-by-user basis from SAM.

Choose
Accounts for Users and Groups
Users
Click on the user you want to enable it for
Actions
Modify
Click Modify Password Options
On the drop-down menu choose Enable Password Ageing and fill in the boxes

Alternatively, you can add a string of characters to the end of users passwords in the password file. You would have to lookup the form of the string.

Kind Regards
