passport takes 20 mins to save conf

good morning all ,help please ,when we do a save conf ,or implement any config changes our busy 8600 (8690,s with 64 meg),it grinds to a halt and doesnt come back for 20 mins !
We are upgrading to 8692,s shortley with 256 meg.

What version of code do you have?

Can you type ANY commands such as a "show sys perf" to see CPU utilization during that 20 minutes? If not, how do the CPU LED's look on the blade?

Hi Jynxx (no pun intended) thanks for the reply we are on ver 3.2.2.2 , show conf also drags the passport to a halt for a short period and the cpu runs about 10%.
We are replacing the switch fabrics with 8692,s and ver 4.0.2.1 this weekend . We intend just copying the config.cfg file from the original blades to the new ones & boot up !! wish me luck
