Passport 8600 config backups

I'm looking for a way to perform a configuration backup on a Passport 8600 without using the CLI or DeviceManager. Basically, I want to be able to get the configuration file(s) off the device via a script running on a remote Solaris box. I would prefer to use snmp, if at all possible. Direct tftp or ftp to the box is the secondary option. Does anyone have any information on doing something like this with these devices?
