passport 6440 Console hangup Problem

Dear All

We have Nortel passport 6440 in our network . I am facing problem with my Console port. Passport Console port gets hangup after every few days. The only solution is then to restart the passport to establish a communication with passport. At the time when the consol is hangup , passport works fine as far as routing is concerned.
Can anyone give me a solution , so that i need not to restart the passport again and again.

Well, nearly a year on, did you get a solution to your problem?

I would suggest managing your passport through IP.
