Is it possible to create a passive 10baseT Hub for 3 devices? Or does anyone know of a descrete IC that is used for the differential line driver?

Cables 2', 6' and 15'

DSL Modem -- -- PC1
|
-- PC2

Would the NIC differential drivers need to be padded or terminated or diode blocked?

Connections required

tx ---- rx1,rx2

rx ---- tx1,tx2

rx2 --- tx1 (potentially block tx by diode or resistor)

rx1 --- tx2 (ditto tx)

First, unless your service provider give you multiple IPs (rare) you need a Router. they can be ordered as multiport routers, which solves you problem, or you can also buy a seperate hub, (i got one for a buck on ebay, although shipping was $5) I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

Or you can use a proxy server to allow your internal LAN to access the Internet for example. And you can define what services you want (HTTP, FTP, etc.)
I can reccomend you Jana Proxy for example. Is free, and is really good. Gia Betiu

The ISP uses a DHCP server to dynamically assign IP's so this does work through an active hub ... given that 10BaseT can be hooked up with out a hub by using a crossover cable I was just hoping someone had already designed a passive 3 port hub for home use.

Using a Proxy requires another NIC in one of the PC's ... and active Routers and Hubs are a given ... just trying to operate outside the box people :)

What are you trying to achieve? There are plenty of passive 4 ports hubs on the market!
