Hi,

I have a cost report program, which imports a CSV file and does all sorts to it to give nicely formatted reports.
This XLS file prompts the user for a JOB NUMBER, which is used to specify the name of the import CSV file. It works fine, but now I am being asked if I can specify the JOB NUMBER (ie the CSV file name suffix) from a web page? Or a webpage link?

Any ideas? Currently I read in the value from an inputbox in VBA, but can I send a parameter/value from a webpage at all into the VBA code?

Any help or advice much appreciated!

Thanks
Alan

Do you mean , the user is presented with a input box
they then enter the name of the CSV file in that input box
Then Excel downloads and open the CSV File from a website ?

At the moment, I open the Excel file just by linking to the file from a webpage. The user is presented with the input box in excel, they type the project number (which it suffixes to the CSV file path and name) and it opens.

What we want to do (well, my superiors want me to set it up!) is have the input box or field on our intranet site, so they type the proj number on a web form, then click a button and the excel file opens, using the value passed from the webpage instead.

Thanks

Sounds like a bit of ASP or maybe Javascript is needed here, as it outside of MS Office (being an Intranet page) and therefore outside of VBA.

If you have .net , then setting up a asp page to open up the csv file into excel and run code against should be straight forward -(with a pinch of salt ish)
