Hi all,

I am trying to use Print To File option to create prn files on a network drive. I added a printer with local port (i.e w:\reports\dailyrep.prn). I want to create a unique file name (not dailyrep.prn) whenever user prints to file. Is this doable in XP?

thanks

Print to file

Any such file you create must be copied to the printer directly (at time of printing), and not opened by an application for printing, as it also contains all the necessary extra instructions for printing what you have printed to the file.

copy path\filename.prn lpt1
from a command prompt should work or similar type of instruction may be required.
