Hi

I've been trying to put a link on a report (SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services) to a url which will render another report in Excel. I have successfully linked test reports to get the Excel export without any parameters, I have successfully passed a parameter through with a constant, but I need to pass a parameter specified by the user when generating the first report to the second rendered report.

The following URL will work:
=
but I need to pass a value held in a parameter in the first report - this won't work:
=
It is easy to setup a link between reports and match up the corresponding parameters, but I don't want the second report to display, I just want it to export to Excel.

Any ideas? Or is this possible?

Many thanks
Ian

almost certainly to do with Date/Time conversion

without doing lots of tests, I would suggest converting the start date parameter to text before inserting it into the url

Presumably you are usingthe URL link rather than the report link ion the RS navigation properties - in which case you can do something like

="Rest of URL String here" & "Date=" & format(Parameters!StartDate.Value,"dd-mmm-yyyy"

Rgds, Geoff

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.
