My first ? was a SIM - What a way to start!
configure e0 and s0 from a a class c range - 8th subnet and 1st
subnet - Simply know your subnetting - and - your conifg commands.
((Sims worked flawlessly for me - VUE Testing Center))
2nd sim
3 routers problems connecting -
I did almost nothing - i simply configured rip on router 1 and that was it I
checked each router
sho int e0,s0,s1 etc
and sho ip proto
everyone looked good.
I pinged from 1 to 3 and 3 to 1 2 to 1 and 2 to 3.
I ended sim
I think they used that MIB (Men in Black) device to erase my memory, because when I was done, I forgot almost everything.
I Used TestKing V29 and the following link
TK was useful but not the end-all. It was a great test prep tool - but it will not gaurentee a passing mark.
Most ?'s from that link are from TK anyway. The KEY is to validate EVERYTHING!!!! Time Consuming - YES - but you will learn this stuff!
I have used this method for my MCSE and I am 7 for 7 on certification exams.
I cross referenced ALL of testkings responses (there were quite a few errors throughout) with various books: ICND Cisco Press, Global Knowledge books, + a CCNP book and INCR cisco Press. All were great resources when combined.
press book. I also got my hands on some exam cram Flash Crads - I used it ALL
HUGE HUGE HELP - Bosun Net Sim - this let me practice and validate what I was
learning.
I created actual scenarios off of the test king exam and tested them.
Excellent practice!!!
I am currently a Systems Engineer working primarily on Telco equipment being
suppoted on Solaris Servers. I have some cisco equipment that I am in charge
of - but not a lot.
I also Have an MCSE-NT4.
I studied harder for this exam than I did for any exam in college or my MCSE.
I attended a Boot-Camp a couple weeks ago - 12 hours a day in class for 4 days and I locked myself in solitary confinement in the Library for an average of 5 hours a day for 4 days leading up to the test. I conitnued my studying in the evening. I took this very seriously - and I still only got an 862 - a Pass is a Pass - I will take it.
