Passed the routing exam today, with only about three weeks study time. I wasn't has bad as I thought. I like the fact they give you a command menu to pick from this was much easier that trying to remember the commands to fill in the blanks. Lots of BGP, OSP and EIGRP, so know them well. I would say they are about 60 percent of the test. The Cisco Press books were of good help of coarse but there was a lot of stuff in the book that just was on the test. Thanks to earlier advice I bought the Exampasser.com study Guide and the routing practice test was top notch. I imagine must of you heard that Cisco is doing away with the CCNP and it is becoming the CCIP, they are offer 50.00 beta test right now. I going to take the new version of the routing exam next Monday, which is the last day. From their website, they say the only thing that is different is the addition of the IS IS protocol. You can still get certified as CCNP, but when it expires after two years there will be no recert, go figure.

Where is the press release about the retirement of the CCNP.. I still dont see anything at Cisco's site about it.. or at least not in the "normal" cert pages.. they do like to hide stuff ;-)

From what I can gather from Cisco's website - the CCIP is being added as well as CCNP. The CCIP does not include switching, remote access or support, it is just routing (with IS-IS).

Don't know if anyone could clarify this but it is worrying as I am in process of doing CCNP now !

Thanks,

Daniel,

There was an error on CVisco's site about retiring the CCNP. I am going to Minn. next week for the routing portion, 100% hands on. Tell you how I did when I get back

No error on Cisco's site. CCIP is a new certification geared towards the folk in the ISP sector.

FYI there is a new routing exam that will cover CCIP as well as CCDP and CCIP. This gives one an option to change paths. The following is the excerpt.

"The now-available BSCI exam (640-900 BSCI) will be accepted as a replacement for the Routing exam (640-503 RTING). This new BSCI exam includes all content for the Routing exam as well as additional information relevant to communications and services audiences."

I am having that BSCI course right now. First day and it takes a week in total. We just did EIGRP and some VLSM as well as some routing basics. Summarizing for instance..

The teacher told me he from previous ICND course they changed a lot(to certify for CCNA). OSPF and VLSM will now also be in the ICND v2.0. also IPv6
And as of now ISIS is being in the BSCI course which I am currently attending.. Looks like I am flooded with protocols again. :)

I'm half way through my NP, so is it worth carrying on or not???

As for the Troytechs...learn it the proper way!
