Our enterprise jus moved from a CE9 to a BOXI setup.

In CE9, accessing the Guest view of eportfolio was simple; a default link to eportfolio without logging in showed you all reports that were evailable to the general public.

In XI, I'm told this is not possible. I dont have access to the actual server, but my guess is there should be some sort of option that says "force authentication" or "allow guest access/Pass-through" or the like.

Does anyone know? I have a feeling our admin is blowing smoke up my you know what, and would LOVE to call him on it yet again.

Thanks!

Jim

Hi Jim,

The XI admin guide says that you should be able to access eportfolio (now Infoview) without any problems, as long as the Guest account isn't disabled. However, I've tried it myself and have the same problem as you.

If you have BO support I'd drop them a quick call / email and ask them yourself. - If not, I think there are a couple ways round this:

You could use SSO (Single Sign On), by which the users network account is linked to Enterprise. When they are logged on to the PC and click the link to Enterprise, their account details will be automatically passed through to Enterprise, so no log on screen will be displayed.

The other method I used for CE10, but I'm almost certain you could find a way in XI. - You would create a single user account in XI, then hard code the username and password into the relevant XI logon file, rename it as something else, then use that filename in the URL that the users would use to access XI. You'll need a little bit of asp knowledge to do this, and since the files have changed a bit since CE10, I can't give much more info.

If you can't find a way round the guest account issue, I'd go with SSO. The Admin manual on the XI disks will tell you exactly what to do.
