Pass parameters without report changes

I Try to pass parameters to Crystal through VB.net.
Looks like I need to create dataset (if anyone can help with any other choice I would greatly appreciate).
My reports pretty complicated with a lot of formulas. If I create a Dataset - then reports will not 'understand' all the tables and fields names!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is a LOT of changes. Am I right???

On further posts add the Crystal version and database type, and your code, otherwise you may not get the right info for your version.

Here's the Crystal sample apps for CR 8.5 and CR 9, the solution is likely in there.
