Hi everyone,
I have been trying to figure this out, but there is no clues at all.

I have several Crystal Reports that need to be accessed from another application. When people click the link from another application, the reports will get these parameters from URL and use them for creating reports. My problem is that how the crystal reports can get those parameters from URL.
Is that have to be done in the Report Server?

Thank you so much for any suggestions or helps!!!

Turkbear,

Thanks a lot for you respond!!

My version is 2008, I will find out if it supports this functionality or not. Also I am not quite sure how CR can get the values from URL, how that Prompt# parameter work. The document show how to attach values to URL, but I can not tell how Prompt parameter work in the CR.

Could you explain it a little bit? Thank you!!

Hi,
In this example:

There is a report published with an ID of 152 which has a string parameter named sample - the URL provides a value of 'hello" for that parameter. Any other parameters can be added to the URL with their values supplied in the same way;

Hi Turkbear,

Thank you so much!! I got this part now, but before getting into this step, I have another issue. When user click the link to the report, they have to enter User Name and Password before they can see the report.
We just have the 2008 install, we had version 9 before, someone set it up long time ago. How can I set up the login bypass, then users can open the report directly? I checked the CMC, but couldn't find the setting for this purpose. There is a .java file in the server, but I am not sure if I should modified it without causing any problems.

Again, thank you for all your help!!!

Hi,
In the CMC there should be, on the Report properties page, a place to enter the database logon info and to indicate that that should be used each time. If, however, you open the report in CR and republish it , that info may be erased and need to be reentered in that same place. ( There was , in XI and earlier, an ability to specify what gets updated when a report is republished and the database logon info could be deselected so republishing does not alter the existing data)

Thank you, Turkbear!!
Maybe I didn't explain my question clearly. The login is not for database, is for enterprise Server. I just found a solution from another thread.

now when user click the link, will be able to open the report without enter user name & pwd, but acctNum does not pass to the report. I have a parameter with the same name "acctNum" in the report. How can the value of acctNum be passed to the report?

Thank you!!

Hi Turkbear,

It is working!!!
Thank you so much!!! You save my day, not only today. I have been strugling for this issue for days.

The part "&;wid=123aasd" is my missed typing. But I did not use "promptex" for my parameter. Now the report got the value passed.

Thank you!!
You have a good day!

Hi,
Glad to help..

Just a note for the future:
Not a good idea to pass admin user info by a URL, so create a new user that just has READ rights to the enterprise and use it for all reports ( the database login is hidden so no issue there)
